In the framework, GMM is looking for a Mechanical Design Engineer.
Position – Role required
Mechanical and Electromechanical Design – We are looking for a mechanical designer capable of conceiving and developing systems as well as complex mechanical components.
Responsabilities
The candidate will be responsible for:
- Designing systems and components according to given project technical specifications;
- Identifying and defining construction parts of the system in connection with its specific structure, materials, shape and functions as well as regulatory limitations;
- Evaluating alternative materials and possible production technologies consistent with the optimization of both technical and financial design specifications;
- Estimating, in collaboration with the Manufacturing Department, the production cycle costs of the designed components and collaborate in terms of industrialisation and constant Design To Cost;
- Assessment of any technical compliance problems and critical issues related to the designed product;
- Support to the Production Department and to suppliers for the execution of work relating to manufacturing and assembly as well as testing;
- Analysis of malfunctions or anomalies of the equipment or parts of it and provide solutions;
- Managing suppliers during the prototype phase with internal departments and/or external suppliers in collaboration with the Sales Department;
- Testing and validating the functioning of the manufactured product;
- Carry out, in collaboration with the Quality Department, the product risk analysis in compliance with regulations and Standards in force;
- Collaborating in the drafting of documentation and relevant updates.
Experience and Skills
Ideal candidate:
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent qualification;
- Possible experience in robotics design.
We also require:
- Experience in mechanical design and production;
- Knowledge of mechanical design with CAD and 3D CAD systems (Solidworks);
- Knowledge of graphic representation and technical drawing techniques;
- Experience in the main processing methods on traditional and numerically controlled machine tools;
- Basic concepts of material technology: properties and characteristics of commonly used materials and novelties in equipment production;
- Knowledge of BOM structures (preferably AS400);
- Knowledge of tools for dimensional control;
- International design unification rules – UNI Standards;
- Preliminary elements to Machinery Directive and Product Safety regulations;
- Knowledge of ISO-9000:2000 Standards and their applications in manufacturing and mechanical engineering;
- Knowledge of Design to Cost/Design to Values techniques.
Language skills:
- Spoken and written English (intermediate level).
Specific IT skills:
- Solidworks: In-depth knowledge (essential requirement) with at least 3 years of experience in designing;
- Creo 3: preferred, but not essential;
- Cocreate Me10: preferred, but not essential.
In addition, the candidate shall demonstrate predisposition to interpersonal relations and teamwork, readiness to collaborate and cordiality.
